The yearly Sitecore Symposium event brings together thousands of domain experts, product owners and existing or new customers to one of the biggest product update events in the Digital Experience Management realm.

With Sitecore offering product capabilities in CMSs, Personalization, Commerce, DAM, CDP, marketing & automation as well as Search, the product offering ecosystem and possible integrations are vast.

This year's Chicago-based edition hosted 2500 attendees, over 100 speakers and keynote sessions from October 17-20th and served as a platform for announcing several innovations and a first big shift into the overall architecture and product roadmap for the years to come.

What's new at Sitecore

Three new major products were announced this year, which will be explained further as they will expand on the current Sitecore capabilities and offering. However, next to these new platforms, Sitecore has (once more) stressed that they will keep supporting and releasing versions of its 'Classic' Sitecore platform to further support existing customers in their digital endeavours.

1. Content Hub One

With the new Content Hub One solution, Sitecore now offers its own pure headless SaaS-based CMS solution. The aim is to provide a valuable alternative to a full fledged DXP solution for those projects that require a strong headless solution.

The new platform has been built on years of experience with regards to CMS development. It uses core elements of both Content Hub as well as Sitecore to offer an intuitive and easy-to-use headless platform that can be connected to any other component in a composable architecture.

2. Sitecore Connect

The ease of connecting the Sitecore platforms into new or existing eco-systems has always been one of the key USPs of Sitecore. With a Sitecore implementation, any integration or customization is possible.

With Sitecore Connect as the new connectable platform this job just became even simpler. This solution is based on a cooperation with Workato that offers hundreds/thousands of integrations out of the box and serves as a middle-layer / ETL layer.

This new product acts as an integration accelerator with an easy to use, drag and drop, low to no-code approach. This platform will allow for an even smoother inclusion of Sitecore within any technical and platform stack.

3. Sitecore Search

Having relied on external search solutions for years, Sitecore has never really had its own out-of-the-box search solution to bring to the table. Through Sitecore’s earlier Reflektion acquisition, the Sitecore Search solution has been created.

Sitecore Search will be included by default into Content Hub One but can function as a standalone, AI-powered, crawler-based search solution. As with any aspect of the Sitecore landscape, this solution is also designed to be integrated smoothly into existing websites/projects in a plug-and-play fashion.

Sitecore is clearly moving away from their ‘monolithic’ approach to DXP/CMS into a composable platform where customers can choose and integrate the solutions they require, love and need with even more flexibility than before. This approach implies that the platform will open much more into both Sitecore and non-Sitecore specific stacks, providing huge potential for growth and customer freedom.

As a recap of the event, Sitecore is bringing the key takeaways of Symposium 2022 to the Benelux with the Sitecore Takeaway Sessions 2022 on December 1st: an afternoon of content for brand experience creators and decision-makers, and more.
