Vision

The Reference started in 1993 as a website builder. In those days, websites were just a separate goal. Meanwhile, websites have long evolved into powerful means of helping to realize the strategic objectives of a company. In recent years, the number of digital channels increased significantly, as did the expectations of the user and consumer. Customers find it normal to be able to communicate or interact anytime, anywhere and through any possible way.

Companies that understand all this, and are not afraid to take on the challenges of digital transformation are able to create a competitive advantage. Since years and years, the credo of The Reference is therefore: It's more than digital, it's your business.

Think – Build – Run

The Reference has chosen quite deliberately to be a full service agency. We really do not like to draw out complicated strategies without thinking about the feasibility of the implementation. Nor do we think it is it sensible to build a solution without understanding very well what the objectives are. And moreover: The phase where a project is built, should not be open-ended, because the real work has yet to begin at the go live: with activation and go-to-market. On can only manage to achieve succes in reaching the KPIs that were set, if digital marketers select the right mix of tactics, set rigorous performance and optimize campaigns on an ongoing basis. This holistic approach obliges us, always well informed and well-founded, to give the right advice, build solid solutions and to develop campaigns that actually convert over and over again. It's more than digital, it's your business.

Integrated

At The Reference we are firmly convinced that this 'everything under a single roof' approach of a full-service agency offers clear added value. Yet this is not enough to achieve a maximum added value. As an agency, one can only succeed at doing this if you translate a cristal clear strategy across all digital channels and customer touchpoints and integrate all this seamlessly. Only then the result will be an overall experience where the efforts of the individual channels and touchpoints reinforce each other

We think this is so important that we have invented a metaphor for this. This methaphor, we keep in mind with every project: the metaphor of the white light. (See picture 1.)

The colors of the rainbow symbolize the wide range of technologies, channels, areas of expertise and customer touchpoints. All these elements (or colors) will be pushed through a prism that transforms all of them into a powerful beam of pure white light. This white light represents the added value to the business objectives of the client. As an integrated agency, it is our duty to act as a prism and blend the rich array of colors, efficiently and result-oriented in order to create the most concentrated of pure white light possible. 

Because it is not just about a mobile app, a Facebook campaign, a website, or lead nurturing through email marketing. Each of those things have their use, but The Reference sees it as her mission to blend all these channels so that they reinforce each other so that together they have more impact and help to achieve the strategic objectives easier.  It’s more than digital, it’s your business.

Being the best is the only market that isn’t crowded

As a full service agency, we will never settle for mediocrity. Our range of services is deepened on a permanent basis within our Centers of Excellence. This is how we watch over a continuous in-depth knowledge of the various digital disciplines.

The Reference is a service company, everything depends entirely on the quality of its employees. We pay a lot of attention to the selection of the right people. Not just their experience counts, because we also attach great importance to the values of our employees. These past few years we have actually managed to collect a top team. A unique dynamic between our multidisciplinary experts leads to a powerful drive and to pioneering projects.

We also do a lot of research on an ongoing basis: the most prominent and powerful tools like solid foundation for our projects are continuously evaluated. We are indeed very selective in the products that we embrace. The Reference is convinced that the number of products offered by an agency is totally irrelevant. Much more important is the ability to execute, the degree to which you master the system or platform and the confidence in the company. Result oriented

Every choice The Reference has ever made, was motivated by the desire to produce tangible and measurable results. We will not rest before we actually accomplish things. Our entire way of working is completely focused on this, whether we opt for an agile or waterfall methodology. It's an attitude that we are obliged to have, not only towards our customers but also towards ourselves. The Reference wants to enter into a long term relationship with its customers and this can only be achieved by delivering results, again and again, and preferably even by surpassing expectations. It’s more than digital, it’s your business.
