The Sitecore Hackathon is a community driven event that aims at creating new functionalities around existing concepts or products. With Sitecore, the hackathon mainly aims at developers, although some front-end and analysis is often required to conceive and complete the project. A Hackathon has a timeframe of 24 hours.
The idea The Reference came up with concerned the blog items. “No Weekend 4 Us” decided to use SXA’s styles and variants which help to transform the component visually and functionally. On top of this they wanted Sitecore’s main X (Experience) to be present here through the integration of the xDB capabilities.
The Reference managed this by changing the order and visualization of blog posts depending on which ones had been favorited, read and which ones were in line with your captured interests (through Profile cards and Sitecore’s marketing capabilities).
All the submissions were judged by a team of community members (Sitecore MVPs) and by a team of Sitecore product managers & technical evangelists. The team of The Reference definitely showed their knowledge of SXA and xDB as they won in the category “Sitecore Experience Accelerator”.
Very good use of the platform. Leveraging standard SXA functionality in a significant way. Excellent integration into xDB. For a module that has been developed in only 24h it feels complete.
A big thumbs up for Gert Gullentops, Simran Singh and Kris Verheire!
