Belgian Umbraco User Group meetup at The Reference

We like building high-end digital products.
We like the challenge, the journey and the excitement behind discovering, architecting & building each product.
But we also like building the community behind our technological tools. One of those communities is the Umbraco community. The driving force behind the community in Belgium is the BUUG, the Belgian Umbraco User Group. Each month they organize a meetup where a group of Umbraco enthusiasts comes together to discuss anything related to Umbraco.

Umbraco for Content Editors

The first thing a content editor will see when he logs in to the Umbraco back end for the first time, is a friendly pop-up from the Content Management System (CMS). To get a great head start the 12 step tour throughout the back-end introduces you into the menu and the sections it contains, the tree that is used for content, but also in the media library and other sections. Further it highlights the search functionality and leads you to the help button, which is the end of the welcome tour but the start of two other tours named "Create Content" and "Data Structure". These are good to get an idea on how the system works, but of course The Reference will provide you with a training specific to the custom implementation done on your request.

How we keep up with Umbraco

During the DUUGfest (Dutch Umbraco User Group) the second keynote of the day was by Jonathan Mills about keeping up with the fast pace of the development world. The most interesting thing was the difference between knowing something and knowing about something. Since the digital world is moving so fast, it's impossible to know everything in to detail, but you have to know the things that exist, so you know when to use them and you can dive deeper into them when you need it.
It's more than digital, it's your business
